Bluetooth is often used in mobile communication devices, as Bluetooth offers native language support. These can include mobile phones, headsets, handsfree kits and notebooks. But in other application fields has Bluetooth now well established. For example, the toy industry makes this technology advantage to communicate with dolls and toy animals interact with each other and leave. The controller of the Nintendo Wii and PlayStation 3 use Bluetooth to communicate with the console. Audio devices without Bluetooth, especially older mobile phones and landline phones can be expanded via a connected limited to Bluetooth adapter.
Because of the used adaptive frequency hopping (AFH), Bluetooth offers a very reliable and interference-resistant wireless connection. This advantage of Bluetooth over other wireless technologies was early by different manufacturers for automation products (eg, Phoenix Contact, WAGO GmbH & Co. KG, Schildknecht AG) rules. Were then implemented Bluetooth-based industrial products that are used in various industrial fields in order to wirelessly communicate between different components in machines. Meanwhile, the PROFIBUS User Organisation eV (PNO) in addition to Bluetooth wireless technology is defined as a carrier for wireless transmission of data packets PROFINET. The CAN in Automation (CiA) is planning the specification of a system based on Bluetooth for wireless transfer of CAN Controller Area Network messages. Overall, support the standardization efforts of the suitability of Bluetooth for industrial automation.
In home automation and alarm systems, there are products that use Bluetooth 2.0. Another application is Bluetooth as a key. Here, any Bluetooth enabled device as a unique key – used – similar to the front door key. It is therefor no additional software on the devices (mobile phones) is necessary. In orthopedics, Bluetooth is used to adjust modern arm and leg prostheses. Settings such as phase damping and maximum load can be undertaken via Bluetooth.
